V.E.T.O.R — Talking to Titan Theron during combat
Can a boss fight also be a conversation?
I’m Jonie, a Brazilian independent developer working on V.E.T.O.R — A Ruptura, a 2D platform adventure for Windows.
Our central experiment is letting players talk with NPCs and enemies during battles. AI-driven replies and individual personalities make conversation part of the encounter rather than only a fixed dialogue box before it. The Titan Theron gameplay below shows the direction of this system.
Combat and visual direction
The game combines a stationary turn mode with a mobile semi-turn mode. In semi-turn mode you can move and attack, but attacks and defense remain limited by an action bar. Detailed environments and characters use a complex-sprite visual approach. Codex assists development.

Status: in development; no public playable demo yet. This post shares gameplay footage, not a downloadable release or an active preorder. Content note: fictional fantasy combat.
For fellow developers: what would make talking to an enemy during a fight feel meaningful to you? I’m interested in feedback about the relationship between the conversation and the combat rhythm.
